After transitioning from an 11 year career in engineering and manufacturing, where Simon Matthews (MBA 21′) provided “Point of Purchase” design services for brands such as Disney’s Children’s Place, Dap, and American Greeting Cards, as well as engineering designs for Dolby Surround Sound, General Motors, Toyota, and others, Simon founded Open Door Media Solutions, a marketing and creative services agency based in Virginia Beach. Open Door provides marketing strategies, and creative design services such as graphic and web design, 2D/3D animation, and content creation.
Open Door specializes in developing strategies where innovation is necessary for clients to break into new markets or expand in existing ones. What started as a one-man operation grew into a network of designers, artists, writers, and technologists. One of Open Doors’ most notable accomplishments since its inception in 2015 involved enabling a singer to break into the music industry and get signed by a Nashville record label. Open Door has provided its 70+ clients tailored strategies to accomplish their objectives. Open Door’s mission is to provide accessible services that help good people do great things.
Marketing Strategies
The HIVE in Town Center is designed to support an innovative and entrepreneurial ecosystem in Hampton Roads through collaboration with the City of Virginia Beach, academic institutions, other cities in Hampton Roads, Small Business Associations, and other entrepreneurial-related organizations. Partnerships and collaboration are the core of the center’s approach to supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in the City of Virginia Beach.
